Pre-Pharmacy (P1) Intern

Are you flexible, adaptable, and ready to enhance your studies while you develop and learn within the UCHealth system? This is an opportunity to learn the future of ambulatory care pharmacy services and grow with UCHealth throughout pharmacy school.

This position allows students who will be starting pharmacy school as a P1 in Fall 2021 to begin working and training as a technician during summer 2021. Upon successful completion of training and job performance, the P1 pharmacy technicians will be moved into pharmacy intern roles once they have obtained their intern license.

The hospital is located in Colorado Springs (1400 E Boulder St, Colorado Springs, CO 80909).

This unique role allows interns to work in three unique areas; Pharmacy Admissions and Transitions of Care Services, Atrium

Outpatient Pharmacy and the Medication Access and Renewal Center (MARC). Based on individual performance, the successful intern will have the opportunity to work closely with pharmacists to provide clinical services in these areas.

Requirements of Applicants:

• Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED.
Required Licensure/Certification: PHATP (Pharmacy Technician Provisional) certification from State Board of Pharmacy. PHAT
(Pharmacy Technician) certification from State Board of Pharmacy within 18 months of hire.

Enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy, to start P1 year in Fall 2021 – please attach a Resume or CV that includes the name of the pharmacy school

Preferred Applicants:
Previous Pharmacy Technician experience preferred, but not required
Job Duties: The job duties described here encompass what the intern will learn over the course of their time here during pharmacy school. The job duties for the summer of 2021 will focus on training and working in these areas as pharmacy technicians.

Pharmacy Intern Scope of Work:
Reviews and assesses medication orders to identify potential and actual drug related problems. Compounds medications for retail sales and/or delivery to patient care areas. Provides drug information and education to patients. Communicates with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.

The pay range for this position is: $16.07 - $24.10 / hour. An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
